This role is part of the Visitor Operations team at Portsmouth Historic Quarter, based in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Here at PHQ, we have a volunteers library containing a collection of books, magazines, journals and DVD'S from which our volunteer team can access to further their knowledge and interest.
Duties
You will be part of a small team of volunteers involved in daily tasks to enhance the library experience and accessibility for the PHQ volunteer team. Tasks will include:
- Indexing our current collection of resources
- Shelving and organising, returning books and other materials to correct shelves
- Maintaining a tidy and organised space
- Assisting library ushers with general enquiries, helping them to find resources
- Processing new or discarded materials and minor stock repair
Adhering to all Health & Safety regulations and requirements
- Maintaining excellent standards of site and personal presentation at all times
Skills
- Minimum 18 years old
- Happy to be a passionate ambassador for Portsmouth Historic Quarter and the Dockyard
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic level of IT
- Previous library experience is preferable
- Happy to undertake training
