Volunteer Group Support

The Independence and Wellbeing Team is part of Portsmouth City Council Adult Social Care. We support adults to stay independent in the community and improve their wellbeing.

The Independence and Wellbeing Team runs a social club, \"Diversi-Tea Lounge\" for adults to prevent loneliness and isolation and provide a space for people to socialise and get information about services. The group runs on a weekly basis in a local community centre. At the group meetings, there is time to have a tea, coffee and a chat and we usually have different activities, including lunch club, arts and crafts, quizzes and games and guest speakers.

Tasks of the volunteer group coordinator include:

-       Set up the room for the group & tidy up afterwards

-       Group facilitation: make participants feel welcome, participants register, make cups of tea and coffee, for the lunch club lay the table and clear up afterwards

-       Work with community development officer in Independence and Wellbeing team to coordinate and develop the group
