What is a Guide unit?
Guides is a relaxed, welcoming space where girls age 10-14 can have fun, learn and be themselves. They meet regularly in groups, called units. These meetings are run by volunteer teams, made up of adult leaders, helpers and young leaders who work together to plan and deliver awesome activities for girls.
What you’ll be doing as unit helper
There’s a lot of space to make this role your own. But you'll likely:
- Be an extra pair of hands to help make unit meetings happen with the opportunity to progress to becoming a leader.
- Work with other volunteers to help girls get involved in activities, earn badges and awards – and celebrate when they achieve them!
- Together with other volunteers, run fantastic activities that inspire girls, whilst helping to keep everyone safe.
- You might get to go on planned sleepovers, events, trips or adventures!
- Learn new things, make new friends, and demonstrate our values of caring, challenging, empowering, inclusive, fun and inspiring in all you do

There are no specific skills required - we welcome volunteers from all back grounds and experiences. Just bring yourself and your enthusiasm!
Friendly, willing to learn and reliable are all qualities of a great unit helper.

- Minimum time commitment (e.g. 3 months, 6 months etc)
commit to at least 6 to 9 months but ideally longer - Suitable for Under 18's (if yes state min age)
16 Young Leader 18 Unit helper or Unit lead - Will require a criminal record check (DBS)
You will need valid photo ID and proof of address to complete this check / paid for by organisation - Will require references

Availability Details
We are currently looking for leaders in the following areas: Buckland, Drayton, Cosham and Copnor for Rainbows girls aged 4-7 Brownies 7 to 10 Guides 11 to 14 and Rangers 14 to 18 years. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Friday evenings. You only need to do one evening, not every day.
