Purpose
The Volunteer Administrative Assistant provides high quality administrative services and support the Advice Portsmouth team to help the people of Portsmouth and those Portsmouth City Council residents who live in Leigh Park and Wecock Farm to solve their problems. Dealing professionally with all enquiries from team members and clients and providing what matters to the client in person and on the telephone.
Principles
The Volunteer Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to team members and clients according to the following principles:
· To work closely with the Administrator.
· Work with team members and clients to provide broad and timely administrative support where included such as photocopying, scanning, making telephone calls and preparing letters to external agencies.
· I recognise and value the capabilities of clients and focus on helping them to build their independence and self-reliance.
· I provide the right level of administrative support to meet the needs of my colleagues and the client.
· To attend team meetings and to take minutes together with typing minutes up on behalf of the Manager.
· I pursue excellence in every aspect of my work.
· I am creative in my work with colleagues and clients, open minded to change and flexible about when, where and how I work.
· I use the expertise of others as required to help me learn and improve.
· I work closely with other members of the team, and offer support to others to help them learn and solve client issues.

Advice Portsmouth provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice to people living in the PO1-PO6 areas of Portsmouth. Our purpose is to give the right advice and appropriate support to help clients solve their problems.
Our team is made up of qualified professionals, support staff and dedicated volunteers. They provide general and specialist advice in:
- social welfare
- debt
- welfare benefits
- employment
- housing
- family
- consumer law

Skills
Potential volunteers have to:
- be 18 years and older
- happy to undertake a DBS check
- be able to provide two references
- Can provide efficient admin support
- Organised
- Ability take minutes of meetings
- Can work on your own and as a team
