Home-Start Portsmouth is a voluntary organization which offers free support to families with a least one child under 5 in the PO1 - PO6 area. It works in partnership with other agencies and organizations to give children the best start in life that is possible, including a Ready for School programme and parent mentoring.
Portsmouth Parent Board represents the views of local parents and carers, and helps to shape services for children and families in Portsmouth.
To volunteer with us you need to:

Have at least one child aged 0-19 (-25 with SEND)

Live in Portsmouth

Have an awareness of issues facing a range of local families

Have good links with local communities
-
Be passionate about positive change for families in the city

Be able to commit 5-10 hours per month
The role is quite varied and partly depends on your own personal interests and skills; activities you may be asked to be part of include:

Attending board meetings, consultations and events

Actively engaging with local community groups and schools

Taking notes and feeding information to other boards and professionals and to the communities where you are active

Representing the views of parents in your local area at strategic meetings

Skills
We are looking for a range of different skills and these could include:
Administative skills
Communication with a wide range of people
Confidence to speak and to ask questions / challenge in a formal environment
IT literacy
A supportive and non-judgmental attitude and approach
An ability to work as part of a team and take direction

- Minimum time commitment (e.g. 3 months, 6 months etc)
6 months - Suitable for Families - (under 16's with an adult)
- Suitable for Under 18's (if yes state min age)
