Poppy Appeal Collector
What you’ll do:
Collect donations at supermarkets, shopping centres, events and community locations
Represent the Royal British Legion during the annual Poppy Appeal and all year round events.
Thank members of the public for their support
Time commitment:
Flexible — from a couple of hours to multiple sessions during the Appeal.
No previous experience is required — just a friendly, reliable approach.
What Support Will I Receive?
A named local contact (your Poppy Appeal Organiser or volunteer lead)
Clear instructions and guidance before and during your volunteering
All necessary materials and RBL branding
Support with health & safety and safeguarding
Who Can Volunteer?
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and communities, including:

Corporate teams
Students and young people (age‑appropriate roles apply)
There’s a role for everyone who wants to help.
When Can I Volunteer?
The main Poppy Appeal takes place each year from late October to Remembrance Day in November, with additional opportunities available throughout the year at events and collections.

Skills
Friendly and approachable – comfortable greeting and thanking members of the public
Good communication skills – able to engage positively and represent the Royal British Legion appropriately
Reliable and punctual – able to commit to agreed times and locations
Professional and respectful – understands the importance of the Poppy Appeal and RBL values
Confident in public settings – happy to volunteer in busy locations such as supermarkets or shopping centres
Able to follow guidance – including health & safety, safeguarding, and collection procedures
Trustworthy and responsible – able to look after collection materials and donations
Team‑focused – willing to work alongside other volunteers and support local PAOs
Adaptable and flexible – able to volunteer at different locations or times where needed
No previous experience is required — full guidance and support will be provided.
