Each year, dozens of runners, swimmers and walkers take on challenges across the country to raise thousands of pounds for Deafblind UK. We need your help to give them a big cheer from the roadside on race day!
We are currently recruiting volunteers for our cheer stations for the Great South Run, which takes place along Southsea seafront and past the Historic Naval Dockyard on Saturday 18th of October.
What we'd like you to do:
- Cheering, clapping, waving, singing, sign making, drumming and dancing at our Deafblind UK cheer points to encourage our Team Deafblind UK participants and raise awareness of the charity. Bring all the energy!
- Meeting participants' family members who join us to cheer. This may include speaking with them about their experiences of deafblindness and why their loved one is taking on the challenge for Deafblind UK.
- Chatting and getting to know other volunteers.
- Helping to track and spot Team Deafblind UK runners in crowds of people and give them an extra loud cheer.
We will have a team briefing a couple of weeks before the event to chat through about the days activities, providing maps, timings, and an emergency contact number. There will also be a WhatsApp group chat so you can chat with other volunteers about the day. We will also post you a Deafblind UK branded t-shirt and cheer sticks before the event.
