Front of House Volunteer

Be the friendly face of Aspex Portsmouth! As a Front of House Volunteer, you’ll welcome visitors, spark conversations about our exhibitions, and help create a warm, inspiring gallery experience.

Aspex is a free contemporary visual arts organisation and registered charity based in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. Showcasing the work of emerging artists, Aspex has a changing programme of exhibitions, artist support activities, and participatory projects and workshops.

In this role, you will:

- Greet visitors and help them feel welcome
- Chat about exhibitions and share information
- Assist with shop sales
- Help keep the space looking great and running smoothly
- Lend a hand with light admin and creative prep tasks
- Assist with occasional events

This is a relaxed, people-focused role, perfect for anyone who likes art, is comfortable working independently, and enjoys creating positive experiences for others.

Skills

This role would suit you if you are:

- Friendly and approachable
- Interested in art and creativity
- A confident communicator
- Comfortable with basic IT (e.g. email, simple retail sales)
- Comfortable working independently in a calm, relaxed environment
