Loaves of Love is a community-driven project that supports marginalised women, female refugees, and asylum seekers through baking, fostering connection, skills development, and cultural exchange. Creating a safe and inclusive environment is at the heart of everything we do.
Role Overview
The Volunteer Safeguarding & Compliance Leader is responsible for overseeing the implementation of safeguarding policy within the organisation. This role ensures all volunteers understand and sign the safeguarding policy upon arrival to ensure Loaves of Love remains fully compliant with GDPR and DBS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
● Ensure all volunteers read and sign the safeguarding policy before starting work in the kitchen.
● Maintain and update safeguarding and GDPR policies as needed.
● Communicate with new and existing volunteers to ensure they understand safeguarding principles.
● Keep accurate records of signed policies and compliance documentation.
● Act as the point of contact for any safeguarding concerns or queries.
● Work closely with the LOL leadership team to improve safeguarding processes
Location: Remote & In-Person (Kitchen sessions twice a month)
Commitment: Flexible, with in-person presence during LOL classes (twice a month) and remote work in between

Loaves of Love was created out of a wish to help and support women asylum seekers and refugees in our local community. We bring women together through the medium of baking bread to help them feel welcome and valued in the community.

Skills
● Knowledge of safeguarding policies, GDPR, and DBS requirements (or willingness to learn).
● Strong communication and organisational skills.
● Ability to manage records and ensure compliance.
● Passion for community work and volunteer engagement.
● Experience in a safeguarding, HR, or compliance role (preferred but not essential)

- Minimum time commitment (e.g. 3 months, 6 months etc)
6 month minimum time commitment - Suitable for Families - (under 16's with an adult)
- Suitable for Under 18's (if yes state min age)

Availability Details
The kitchen sessions are on the 2nd and 4th Friday afternoons of each month at 13:30 till 16:30. Flexible remote working in between.
