Remind Dementia activity group co facilitator

Remind is a service delivering support to those living with dementia and their carers throughout Portsmouth.
The Remind team offers support and help to address a number of issues that a dementia diagnosis can bring, such as social isolation, loneliness and boredom. Remind runs Cognitive Stimulation Therapy groups and activity sessions that both people with dementia and their carer can attend.
As a Remind volunteer you will support the Dementia Activities Facilitator to deliver a programme of activities for people with dementia and their carers when required. These groups run twice a week with an attendance of up to 30 people and focus on fun, hope and belonging.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers who aren’t afraid to get involved with whatever activities are happening in the group that day – variety is key!

• Good interpersonal skills and be able to talk to a wide variety of people.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Empathy and an understanding of the issues that face those with dementia and their carers.
• Knowledge of Older persons services, carers services and dementia related issues.
• Enthusiasm and reliability.
• Good punctuality and time management skills.
• Ability to work with other volunteers and Solent Mind staff in a team.
• Willingness to undertake any relevant training for your role.
• Attend bi-monthly volunteers meeting.
