Our Literacy Specialists bring their experience and expertise to provide support to Reading Coaches and assist in running the Reading Coach meetings. The person who takes on this role should have a background in teaching reading/literacy (preferably but not necessarily with adults). Our volunteer Literacy Specialists feel a real sense of pride in giving practical solutions to their Coordinators and Reading Coaches to give our new Readers the greatest chance of success. You will also attend our management team meetings which occur every couple of months.

Read Easy is a not-for-profit organisation that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to give one-to-one tuition to adults who struggle with reading.

Skills
A background in in teaching reading/literacy
A knowledge of the range of teaching resources that are available to adults, or a willingness to research them
Good communication and people skills
Reasonable confidence in using IT
Ability to use initiative and work independently
With an average of 2 hours per week to commit to role

You must be 18 years or over (18+) - Will require a criminal record check (DBS)

We require 2 references. Ideally at least 1 would be professional but we realise that this is not always possible.
