We are looking to find friendly people in a variety of roles in the shop to help build on our team. We are currently very short of volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays, so if you can spare a couple of hours on either of those days we would welcome you to get in touch. There are plenty of opportunities to make the shop and the role your own.
The Role – General Weekend Volunteer
You will help us to:
- Receive donations from our supporters
- Help to sort, label and price our items before sale
- Welcome, Greet and help our customers
- Serve customers on the till (training provided)
- Create wonderful shop displays, re-stock our items on the shop floor
- Light cleaning/tidying duties to keep the shop inviting and well presented
We are happy to reimburse reasonable travel expenses.
We are an inclusive charity and welcome all people with differing abilities and support needs.
Please note - we do have a minimum age requirement in our shops of 18.
About the organisation
Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters through our 7 hospices, Grief Kind spaces and online counselling and bereavement services.
Process:
You will need an account to register your interest for this role. Once you have registered your interest you will receive an automatic email with next steps. If you have not received this in a couple of hours, please do get in touch as it may not have registered (volunteering@hiveportsmouth.org.uk).
You will need to respond to the "Criteria Check" email to progress with this role.
Please check your junk email folder in case any emails end up there. Friendly reminder that the charities/organisations emails may end up here too.
Don't forget you can add up any volunteering hours as part of Team 100 Opportunity - Hive Portsmouth or part of the Donate 100 things challenge Opportunity - Hive Portsmouth.
Skills
You don’t need any experience to join us as a volunteer, you just need to be willing and helpful with a flexible and enthusiastic approach.
Full training is provided and we can be flexible around your availability.
In return for your enthusiasm, you will have the opportunity to be part of a wonderful team, gain new skills and experience, and most importantly contribute towards making a difference to our service users and their families.
