To function as the public face of Portsmouth Cathedral during any function or event, ensuring that visitors and guests have a positive, enjoyable, and safe experience.
Core Tasks
• Look after visitors to make sure they are safe and happy.
• Function as a good ambassador of Portsmouth Cathedral.
• Answer visitor questions, queries, and problems, reporting to the appointed Portsmouth Cathedral Staff member if required.
• Assist in emergency evacuations of the site
• Check tickets and show visitors to their seats/areas.
• Assist in setting up and clearing away refreshment service stations.
• Check bar stock & restock
• Serve refreshments to visitors
• Take card payments
• Comply with the Cathedral’s premises licence and Age Verification Policy

Skills
• Well presented, with a friendly and approachable personality, sense of humour and can-do attitude.
• Enthusiasm for, and willingness to engage with people.
• Patience and tact are required in interactions with the public.
• An interest in community, cultural, creative and heritage events
• Availability to volunteer for some evening and weekend events
• Ability to work alone and in a team.
• Aged 18 and over.
• Whilst being a practising Christian is not a requirement, volunteers should be sympathy with the ethos and aims of the Cathedral as a Christian organisation.

Availability Details
Our functions and events occur throughout the year. We use a rota scheduling app to enable volunteers to signup for those functions and events which most interest them.
