We are in the process of creating a twice monthly community support group for Veterans living with Dementia and their families in Portsmouth following on from the tremendous success of other groups across Hampshire. Our groups provide a warm welcome, a place of friendship, support, activities and a carers support session.
Our volunteers provide a warm welcome, friendship, are involved in the activities and are the pinnacle of the success of the group. These are exciting times for the development of support services for Veterans Living with Dementia in Portsmouth and surrounding areas
* Veterans are those who have served in the Armed Forces, Merchant Navy and Emergency Services who are living with dementia. We also support anyone who has historical links with the services and families who journey with them

- Minimum time commitment (e.g. 3 months, 6 months etc)
We have a 3 month trial period but hope volunteers will be long term - Suitable for Under 18's (if yes state min age)
we will accept under 18s if doing Duke of Edinburgh Awards No one under 14 - Will require a criminal record check (DBS)
We undertake this for the volunteer - Will require references

We are looking for volunteers on Monday afternoons at the current time but with some flexibility for other days - we are waiting confirmation of final venue
