Fort Brockhurst Site Volunteer

What will I be doing?

This role is all about people and helping visitors to get the most from their visit by:

- Helping to open the site and ensuring it is ready to receive visitors.
- Welcoming and orientating visitors and providing information about the site.
- Sharing information about the significant features of the site, both inside and outside, including how English Heritage cares for historic buildings.
- We might ask you to help with a range of other tasks and for special event days if you can.
- Being aware of Health & Safety issues.

About the organisation:

English Heritage is a charity that manages over 400 historic monuments, buildings and places. These include prehistoric sites, medieval castles, Roman forts and country houses. The charity states that it uses these properties to "bring the story of England to life for over 10 million people each year"

What skills, qualities and experience do I need?

- Confident and effective at communicating.
- Friendly and approachable to all visitors.
- A team player, who has a positive attitude to working with visitors to enhance their visit.
- Volunteers in this role will have to stand for long periods/walk the site and will have to spend time outside.
