Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards – The Winners in 2018
More than 85 nominations were received for the Portsmouth Together Inspiring Volunteer Awards 2018.
And the winners are… well the community of Portsmouth. The awards nominations have shown that so many volunteers across our city bring something valuable to the lives of those around them. Our communities are a better place for having them in it. They share their time and energy selflessly, in an age when it is so often said that people are selfish.
Organised by Portsmouth Together and Pompey in the Community, the awards are an annual event funded through support from local businesses and organisations. The Awards presentations took place at Fratton Park on 7th June 2018 and are parts of Portsmouth Volunteers Week celebrations.
This year awards were given in the following eight categories.
Outstanding Contribution Award – Supported by Portsmouth City Council
Winner

Duncan Paterson receives the Outstanding Achievement Award from Cllr. Jeanette Smith and Alison Jeffrey, Director of Education, Children’s & Family Services
Duncan Paterson – Portsmouth Abuse and Rape Counselling Service (PARCS)
The winner of the outstanding achievement award has been selected by the Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards judging panel. The panel have chose an individual who they believe has shown individual excellence in achievement and who has worked tirelessly ‘behind the scenes’ to improve the vital services provided by a Portsmouth charity.
