Community Space Volunteer

Spark Community Space is a local Portsmouth charity supporting those facing loneliness and isolation. Spark started as a lifeline for our founder who herself was experiencing isolation after a life changing brain injury. It has evolved from online coffee mornings to a warm and cozy community hub in the heart of Fratton. We are a community centre, donation-based café and charity shop all in one.

What is the role?

Spark Volunteers help in our Space, making drinks and toasties, serving customers, helping in the charity shop, doing crafts and activities and cleaning/ maintaining the space. We also do events which sometimes require extra people to help at.

Who are we looking for?

We don’t ask for any experience as we like to help build up our volunteer’s skill sets. However, we do ask that volunteers at Spark have a passion for helping people, promote kindness and are willing to work as part of a large and varied team of volunteers.

Induction & Training: We have a 4-week trial for all volunteers, after which we have an in-person induction to go through all our policies and procedures, give out a volunteer handbook and fill out a DBS check form (provided by the charity).
