Mother Nature’s Gym

2 April 2017

With spring having sprung and the lighter evenings here, what better way to enjoy the sunshine than to pop over to Southsea Green garden. https://southseagreen.uk/ With doctors advising us all to get 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week, what better way to get fit than at mother nature’s very own gym.

Starting with a derelict piece of land in 2014, thanks to the dedication of the team the garden has flourished into a haven of activity and bloom. With funding from the European Social Fund, Southsea Green now offers not only volunteering but workshops too. With volunteers being able to get involved in planting, watering and nurturing the garden, everybody can get a workout for free.

For those who enjoy being creative indoors, how about getting involved in promoting the garden. The Southsea Green is based at Southsea Green, Canoe Lake, Southsea and is next door to Cumberland House, the Natural History Museum on Eastern Parade. With volunteers of all ages involved, it makes for a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in which to work.

Don’t forget, that all new volunteering opportunities in Portsmouth are to be found on the Portsmouth Together website. Make sure you log on to find out what new opportunities are available.
