Care Home Gardening Volunteers

If you enjoy being in the outdoors and are a keen gardener, you may like to apply for a gardening role at a care home/nursing home. This role can include general gardening tasks such as weeding, watering, repotting and tidying. Other activities include discussing care routines and seasonal planting needs.

You may be engaging residents (alongside staff support) in light gardening tasks. As well as taking pleasure in the work, you’ll be able to gain gardening skills (if you don’t already have them!)

The garden is an important place for residents to spend time in. It can bring much needed joy and enrichment to their lives. As a gardening volunteer you’ll know you are doing something that will contribute to the wellbeing of residents.

Christmas Cards and Gifts

Last year (2025) the appeal for Christmas cards and gifts was a huge success. There were 5,889 Christmas cards sent which brought much happiness to 165 residents. There were also 381 gifts given which made Christmas special for 103 residents who otherwise would not have received any gifts.

Christmas roles usually go live in October.
