We are looking for
about 5 or 6 volunteers to travel to and from college with young adults with
learning and physical disabilities. They will need to support the young people
in and out of the taxi, provide reassurance and support on the journey and ease
any anxieties they may have. Volunteers would be taken home after the young
person had been taken to college. College hours such as St Vincent's in
Gosport, Highbury and Portsmouth are usually 9.30 am to 3.30 pm Monday to
Friday so the volunteers would need to be available from 8.30 am to about 10.30
am and from 2.30 to about 4.30 pm (depending on where about in Portsmouth the
young people live and which college they are attending). Parents and members of
the Integrated Learning Disability Service will give more detailed guidance for
each individual person. Volunteers would need and up to date DBS check.
