The role is as a befriender for our Telephone Chat Scheme. The volunteer makes a regular call, once or twice a week or once a fortnight, to one or more older people who are lonely, isolated or need support to cope with low mood and anxiety.

A small charity, funded by the Big Lottery, aiming to support people in middle and later life, helping them to access information, support, opportunities to have their say, regular activities and social connection to enhance their wellbeing and independence.
We are looking for people of any age over 18 who can spare a little time each week. Volunteers need to be good listeners, patient, have empathy for the needs of older people, and enjoy chatting.
Calls are made from your home. Guidelines are in place to protect your number, and any out of pocket telephone expenses will be covered. A basic DBS check is required, at no cost to the volunteer.
