Research and Impact Manager

The Bi Pride UK Education and Outreach department is growing. We are looking for a volunteer to take a lead on our internal and external monitoring and evaluation work, gathering data about different areas of our activities to ensure that we are having as much impact as possible and can communicate that clearly to a variety of audiences. This is an exciting opportunity to gather and assess valuable evidence about the experiences of bi communities in the UK.

Sitting within the Education and Outreach department, this role is a crucial connecting point between various departments and teams to help the organisation continually identify areas for improvement and growth. Suited to someone from a research or academic background, and in time including the management of a team of volunteers, the Research and Impact Manager’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a research and impact strategy for Bi Pride UK;
  • Developing and lead on internal systems and processes for Bi Pride UK to evaluate its different activities, projects, programmes and events;
  • Building and strengthening relationships with the bi research community and represent Bi Pride UK on appropriate external research and/or impact working groups and forums;
  • Ensuring that all research and evaluation projects are driven by an ethical, inclusive, intersectional and voice-driven approach;
  • Creating and maintaining a bank of key research and resources on bi identities and community experiences;
  • Leading on generating and analysing data for briefings, and annual and end-of-grant reports, and liaising with the media and comms department on disseminating findings from evaluation and research undertaken by Bi Pride UK;
  • Advising on and managing requests for Bi Pride UK to contribute to external research projects;
  • Identifying gaps in existing research on bi people and exploring possibilities for externally-funded research and evaluation projects
  • Recruiting and managing volunteers to support with research and impact work across the charity.

  • Experience of working in a research or an academic context;
  • Ability to write research proposals and funding proposals;
  • Experience of writing accessible reports to express research findings;
  • Confidence to create and maintain new administrative processes and systems
  • Able to communicate confidently, coherently and sensitively on complex issues of identity;
  • Strong understanding of the complexity of identity, power dynamics and privilege;
  • A post-graduate qualification is desirable but not essential.
