Becoming a volunteer for the My Guide Service is a fantastic opportunity to really change somebody\'s life by helping them get out and about and accessing their local community. The My Guide service endeavours to match a volunteer with a client that lives within their local area. The volunteer will then work with the client on a regular basis to achieve a set of goals that they may wish to achieve e.g. learning the local route to their doctor’s surgery and/or local shop.
The training to fulfil this role takes place within Southampton, over 2-days and includes learning the sighted guiding techniques and a session on Safeguarding practices. We can of course let you know further details about the training courses at a later date if you do decide to apply for a My Guide sighted guide role.
