Education Volunteer for Portsmouth Cathedral

Education Volunteers welcomes many schools and hundreds of young people to the Cathedral each year. The main tasks are –

- To assist with preparing resources for school activities - may involve all or a combination of:  designing craft activities,   photocopying,   cutting out,   collating worksheets,   arranging displays,   designing workshop ideas and resources. 

- To assist in setting up activities. 

- To welcome teaching staff and children. 

- To support children in taking part in the workshops and activities. 

- To demonstrate craft activities. 

- Assist with the development of new resources. 

- To assist in putting things away and clearing up.

- No experience necessary as full training and support will be provided

- Whilst being a practising Christian is not a requirement, volunteers should be sympathy with the ethos and aims of the Cathedral as a Christian organisation.

    Yes - we are happy for all to enquire about the role, and it will be decided on as a case-by-case basis.

  • Will require a criminal record check (DBS)
    In line with Safer Recruitment, we will require a DBS.
  • Will require references
    In line with Safer Recruitment, we will require two references.

Availability Details

Once a month, usually on a Tuesday from 09.00 - 12.00 Ideally, we would like volunteers to give a minimum of 3 months commitment however, the longer you commit to this role the more you will benefit.
